Friend,
I believe firmly in the right to choose. That’s why I joined thousands of New Yorkers at the annual Women’s March last Saturday to demand an end to the GOP’s assault on reproductive rights.
It was an honor to be surrounded by so many New Yorkers fighting for what is right; however, it is unconscionable that we are still having to fight with Republicans about abortion rights more than 48 years after Roe v. Wade.
The decision in Roe v. Wade made it clear that access to safe abortion is a constitutional right in America. In Texas, and around the country, that civil right is under attack. Texas House Bill 1280, a bill signed into law by Greg Abbot on June 16th of this year, has effectively gutted Roe and set the stage for a national conflict over abortion.
The Texas House billl is Draconian: it aggressively limits access to safe abortion services, unfairly penalizes healthcare providers who provide abortion services, and impedes progress in healthcare equality — and it’s flat out unconstitutional.
Will you add your name to this petition and join me in demanding that the Senate stop delaying and move forward by doing what we already did in the House to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify the right to choose?
I have been in the fight for reproductive rights since I was a young man: in 1970, at age 21, I was a part of the group that would become NARAL, lobbying for the decriminalization of abortion in New York state. 50 years later, I am still fighting with Republicans about reproductive rights, and I don’t plan to stop any time soon.
This week, the Supreme Court is set to hear a case that could permanently reverse the ruling in Roe v. Wade. That is why right now, I need your political courage.
Please add your name to my petition, and demand the Senate stop delaying and protect the right to choose!

If the GOP cannot accept that safe access to abortion is a human right, then we will just have to keep raising our voices until they understand. Together, we can stop them from setting reproductive rights back a generation.
Thanks for all that you do,
