Over the past week, progressive members of Congress successfully held strong to fight for transformative changes that people urgently need.

Our Build Back Better Act would secure long-overdue investments in climate action and the needs of poor and working families. These expansions to our economic security would be fully paid for by increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations.

The popular bill is backed by 62% of the American people,¹ 96% of Democrats in Congress, and the White House. But a small group of corporate Democrats—who take donations from the very industries we’re supposed to regulate—are standing in the way.

As members of Congress negotiate the Build Back Better agenda, please add your name to tell Congress: We need a massive investment in our communities and our future. We’ve got to deliver on the bold, progressive priorities we promised the American people.

In order to pass this bold legislation through Congress so our President can sign it into law, we need the vote of every single Democratic Senator. That includes two corporate Democrats in the Senate who’ve blocked our efforts so far and do not represent the mainstream of the Democratic Party.

Because of our recent success in the House, blocking a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill without first securing a deal on the Build Back Better Act, these Senators are coming to the negotiating table. However, they’re demanding compromises and cuts in order to get this legislation through the Senate and actually deliver the changes people need and deserve.

While negotiating, we should NOT back down on the progressive priorities we promised the American people, including:

• new and repaired affordable housing
• getting poisonous lead out of our drinking water
• expanding Medicare to include dental, hearing, and vision
• finally allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and stop Big Pharma’s price gouging
• climate action, creating millions of good green jobs
• lowering the cost of childcare
• paid family and medical leave
• free pre-K and community college

We need a massive investment in our communities and our future. And unlike the trillions of dollars in Pentagon spending, our plan is 100% paid for—by making the rich and big corporations finally pay their fair share of taxes.

We have an opportunity right now to finally make our government work for everyone in this country, not just the wealthiest few.
