Dear John,
As one of Delaware's senators, I've gotten to see up close the remarkable services that Delaware State University provides to its students, faculty, and community. I know that other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country share the same generosity and commitment.
HBCUs have consistently produced our nation's next leaders, provided opportunities and resources for low-income and first-generation college students, and advanced equity and academic excellence.
I believe the federal government has a duty to provide increased funding for HBCUs so that they have the resources they need to thrive. If you agree, will you sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act?
As co-chair of the Bipartisan HBCU Caucus, I've made advocating for HBCUs in the Senate a top priority. The IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act is one example of these efforts, and I'm proud to say that it would authorize one of the largest federal investments in the history of HBCUs.
The IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act will modernize the campuses and facilities, allow for technological advancements, and invest in HBCU students and faculty. For decades HBCUs have been underfunded, but this bill would change that.
Investing in our HBCUs is critical to advancing equity and justice. Will you stand with me in this fight and add your name next to mine as a citizen co-sponsor of the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act?
Thank you,
Chris
