Civic Influencer Program

My name is Johanna Mudry and I serve with the Campus ElectionEngagement Project (Campus Elect) as a Statewise Organizer.  Campus Elect is committed to ensuring young voices and votes matter in our democracy. We have reimagined how and where to engage young voters. We have created a Civic Influencer program and we would love to partner with you to find applicants between the ages of 18-29 who are eager and willing to participate in our program. A description of the Civic Influencer program can be found here.  The application can be found here:
https://tinyurl.com/CivicInfluencerApplication

Given the incredible work your organization has done, we would love for you to help us shape our outreach to young people within the community.  Here is a list of key ways in which we will engage young people who participate in our paid Civic Influencer program:
  1. Offer strategic guidance and support: Work with Civic Influencers to create customized civic action plans that address the voter suppression and social issues young people face in their community.
  2. Story Collection Initiative: Our Civic Influencers will collect data that describes the barriers to voting within their community.
  3. Provide Data Training: Using a data visual analytics platform Civic Influencers will have access to data literacy training that will teach them different ways to use their story collection data to solve voter suppression issues within their community.

Our organization believes that young people between the ages of 18-29 are the nucleus of our community and given support, would be the most powerful changemakers in history.  Our organizing, advocacy, and learning model reinforces that young people are the drivers of the future. Our Civic Influencers’ voices, brands, and opinions empower all to stand up for the environmental, social justice, socioeconomic and economic issues they believe in.

Are you available to schedule a meeting to discuss our program and potential collaboration?

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Best,
Johanna Mudry, M.S.

Phonebanking and Texting with EMILY's List

A message from VAYD Membership Director Sam Bauman [edited for length]:

Hey, y’all!

I wanted to shoot a message to everyone about virtual volunteer opportunities happening in Virginia through my work -  EMILY's List, a PAC dedicated to electing Democratic pro-choice women & nonbinary choice champions.

We're holding phonebanks and texting shifts starting this week. Here's the link: https://emilyslist.org/go/2021-GOTV-Signup

None of the shifts listed have who you are calling/texting for on them, but I can find out in case you have a regional interest. We will be calling for incumbents. open holds, and pick up opportunities (Sponsler!!).

If you do sign up for a shift, please mark yourself as an "I'm Friends/Family of an EMILY's List Staff Member or Intern", not "I'm an EMILY's List Supporter Volunteer"
