Friend,

Let me be honest — the last few months have been challenging. We’ve witnessed the cruel and inhumane treatment of asylum-seekers at our southern border, the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our loved ones, and disappointing setbacks in our efforts to pass a pathway to citizenship for immigrants in our country.

Yet, in the face of these growing injustices, we are not giving up. Our movement is bigger and bolder than ever before. We are in the halls of Congress demanding action, in the courts fighting for justice, and this week, on the National Mall in Washington, DC, hosting an interactive art installation to remind Congress that Immigrants Are Essential and demand citizenship for ALL.

There is no recovery without immigrants. Failing to fix our outdated and dysfunctional immigration system would hurt the possibility of a full recovery. That’s why no matter what gets in our way, we will continue to fight for a pathway to citizenship, fair pay, and protections for all — for full citizenship that recognizes our shared humanity.

The path forward is up to us, and we are not losing sight of our goals. We will not give up.

Sincerely,

Victoria Ballesteros,
Chief Communications Officer, National Immigration Law Center
