Friend – three years ago today, Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as a Supreme Court justice. My memories from that day, and those intense feelings of anger, hopelessness and determination, continue to fuel me in my campaign to defeat Sen. Grassley (R-IA). As thousands took to the streets in protest and countless others huddled quietly around TV screens wondering what this meant for them and their families, Sens. Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell were celebrating. 

You see, as then chair of the Judiciary Committee, Sen. Grassley bears direct responsibility for Kavanaugh's confirmation – as well as a great deal of damage done to our entire judicial branch of government. Sen. Grassley conspired with Mitch McConnell to block consideration of President Obama's Supreme Court nominee for months (nearly 300 days, to be exact). But, when Donald Trump was in office, he rammed through Kavanaugh's confirmation, even with all the controversy surrounding his nomination and qualifications.

Confirming Kavanaugh is one of Sen. Grassley's proudest accomplishments, and it's no wonder why. Kavanaugh's vote on the court has advanced Sen. Grassley's radical agenda time and time again: the Voting Rights Act has been decimated, giving GOP-led states a green light to pass extreme voter suppression laws, and Kavanaugh's vote allowed the Texas abortion ban to go into effect, gutting Roe v. Wade's protections in our country's second-most populous state.

With so much damage already done, Mitch McConnell is now vowing to block any of President Biden's Supreme Court nominees if Republicans take back the majority. If that happens, Sen. Grassley could once again hold the gavel on the Judiciary Committee and move our highest court even further to the right. We cannot let that happen. We must defeat Sen. Grassley in Iowa and protect our Democratic Senate majority.

I have every intention of winning this race, and I will fight with everything I have to defeat Sen. Grassley – but I can't do it without grassroots resources. So today, in remembering what a consequential moment this was for our country – and how Sen.
