John – happening today:

The Senate Judiciary Committee will meet at 2pm ET for an important
hearing on the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

The bill would reinstate vital voter protections from the Voting Rights
Act of 1965 that have been gutted by disastrous Supreme Court rulings over
the last decade.

If RepresentUs members can make 250 calls in support of this legislation
before the hearing starts in 3 hours, we can help build public pressure to
pass this bill.

[ [link removed] ]Will you call the leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee right
now to demand they pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act?

[ [link removed] ]Tell the Judiciary Committee to Support the John Lewis Voting Rights
Act. Call now.

* For over 40 years, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 protected voters from
racially discriminatory election laws.
* Despite strong bipartisan support for the Voting Rights Act, including
a unanimous Senate vote to reauthorize the bill in 2006, the Supreme
Court hobbled the legislation over the past decade.
* Since the Supreme Court first undermined the law in 2013, voter
suppression laws that disproportionately impact minority voters have
exploded in states.
* The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is our chance to reverse
this racist trend by restoring the 1965 Voting Rights Act and
protecting the right of every American to cast a safe and legal
ballot.
* This bill is an important companion bill to the Freedom to Vote Act.

From the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma to the floor of Congress in
Washington, John Lewis dedicated his entire life to fighting for
democracy. This bill honors his legacy in the best way possible – by
protecting the civil and voting rights of millions of Americans.

[ [link removed] ]Take two minutes to pick up the phone right now and call Senate
Judiciary Committee members. Tell them you support the John Lewis Voting
Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act.
