John,
Congress
has an opportunity to pass a once in a generation piece of
legislation that will rebuild our economy through expanded access
to healthcare, a fair tax code where billionaires pay their fair
share, commitment to reduce the carbon emissions, and much more.
Democrats
were elected to address these issues - the greatest challenges
facing our country. This is the Build Back Better agenda, which
we will pass through what’s called “reconciliation”. This could
be Democrats' last chance to pass truly transformational
legislation, which is why I’m standing strong and holding the
line with the Progressive Caucus to demand a bill that helps all
Americans.
Every
person elected to Congress represents hard-working people. But at
the moment, many of them have been left behind. We owe it to them
to pass the full Build Back Better package.
This is
more than just one price tag or one bill, this is a series of
measures that will improve life for every American. I want to
know from you, which policy is most important to you?

While
much attention has been given to the two in my own party who have
reservations about the package, I want to remind you that every
single Republican in Congress opposes these measures. They don’t
want universal Pre-K, they want to protect Big Pharma’s profits,
they refuse to raise taxes on the top 1%, and they won’t take
action on climate.
This
is the future we have been working so hard for, and we can make
it happen together.
Thank
you,
Hank
Johnson
