It’s a fact, John: We need new voices in our government. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Snapchat to empower young Democratic women to step up and transform politics as usual.

The Snapchat Run for Office program is a first of its kind. This in-app program connects Snapchat users with information and opportunities to run for office and – crucially – helps young Democrats build power at the state and local levels.

Why focus on young Democrats? Well, in 2018, Gen Z and Millennials made up 34% of our electorate. But barely 6% of state legislators were 35 years old or younger. It’s unacceptable that younger generations, who will bear the brunt of the crises we see today, have the least representation in the rooms where decisions are made.

It’s more than unacceptable, John: it’s unjust. So we’re partnering with Snapchat to help young Democratic women to take the future into their own hands.
