John,

You know how dangerous the GOP’s voter suppression bills are to our democracy. We’re drawing attention to another way the GOP is suppressing access: purging voters.

Because every state has a unique voter registration system, it is very difficult to make sure voters across the country have their registrations up-to-date. Voting rights groups like us have to essentially run 50 unique voter registration programs. That is why voter purges can be so dangerous.

This year we’ve seen a surge of voter purges in swing states. President Biden won Wisconsin by 20,000 votes. The state recently purged 205,000 voter registrations. Many of these names were added to this purge after a Republican outside group sued to have these names removed.

Republicans in Arizona recently passed a bill that will allow outside groups to scour the state’s voter registration and essentially hand-pick people to be flagged for removal.

Back in 2018, a massive purge in Georgia removed thousands from the rolls just months before Stacey Abrams’ election. Many think that purge, and other voter suppression efforts, cost her the governorship.

Republicans are doubling down on voter purges. However, the good news is that with early organizing we can re-register all these purged voters.

Right now, our challenge is starting early. Can you chip in $25 to help us contact voters in Wisconsin, Georgia and Arizona?

------------

Vote From Home is a grassroots movement that's fighting to expand vote-by-mail. We helped thousands of Democrats vote safely from home in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Now we're focused on stopping politicians and legislation who are making it harder for Americans to vote by mail. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $21 so consider donating that today to support voting rights: [link removed]
