A Senate Resolution would designate this week as "Religious Education Week", tell your Senator to reject this unconstitutional resolution.

Dear Friend,

A resolution pending before the United States Senate would declare the week of October 3-9 as "Religious Education Week".

You can read the resolution here ([link removed]) in the Congressional Record. Introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and supported by 17 Senators, the resolution describes some of the perceived benefits of religious education ("religious education fosters respect for other religious groups and individuals generally by acknowledging a source for human dignity and worth"), cites court cases supporting religious education, and encourages states to allow public school students to leave school to attend religious classes elsewhere.

The Resolution even asks the Senate to affirm "the importance of religious education in the civic and moral development of the people of the United States." ([link removed])

Religious schools have a history of indoctrination, intolerance, and in some cases abuse. Religious coursework replacing elements of a core curriculum is a waste of time. Encouraging public school students to leave their classes for religious courses somewhere else is reprehensible. United States Senators spending time on this resolution is too.

Click the button below and let them know that they should vote NO on Senator Graham’s Senate Resolution 407. ([link removed])
