john,
This is BIG news: the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) announced yesterday that 60,000 members who work in television and film production across the country have voted—by a nearly unanimous margin—to grant IATSE International President Matthew Loeb the authority to call a strike. This is the FIRST TIME in IATSE’s 128-year history that members of the union have authorized a nationwide strike.
IATSE members are the working-class backbone of the TV programs, films and streaming content that provide entertainment and comfort to millions around the world.
Now, 60,000 of these behind-the-scenes workers are mobilizing to win a union contract that guarantees basic human necessities like adequate sleep, meal breaks, and living wages from the wealthiest media corporations and studios in the world, and they need your support.
Will you take two minutes to sign their petition demanding that The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the studios provide equitable treatment for the unsung heroes of the entertainment industry?
