A.G. Holder has said that "gerrymandering is cheating," and he's absolutely right. It allows Republicans to halt progress even on issues that have overwhelming public support:

Voter support for universal background checks: 97% for.
US House Republicans who voted for the Bipartisan Background Checks Act: 95% against.
