John, have you seen what’s been happening in Congress? Here’s the rundown of Biden’s Build Back Better deal and why we must expand the progressive coalition in Congress:
Our community in South Texas is still reeling from the economic impact of COVID-19. We all faced the debilitating effects of the global pandemic. But our current leadership isn’t doing enough to support the recovery of our communities.
Congress must pass President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda now. Last week, the progressive coalition successfully pressured Congress to delay a vote on a weak version of the reconciliation package. This is why it’s important to expand the progressive coalition in Congress — it holds moderate Democrats in Congress accountable to put our communities first instead of big corporations and special interest groups.
Our representative, Henry Cuellar, has already said he will not support President Biden’s budget. We know where Cuellar’s priorities are, and it is not South Texas. Our community has had enough of Cuellar’s refusal to do what’s right.
It’s time to elect a bold, progressive champion to Congress who will fight for South Texas. It is time to break the status-quo and bring progressive values to the halls of Congress.
