Yesterday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) held its first of three fall budget hearings. These hearings give us an opportunity to push the Board to include additional early childhood funding in its upcoming budget proposal.
Please join us *virtually* in requesting a 10% increase to the Early Childhood Block Grant (ECBG) for Fiscal Year 2023. Next year presents a unique opportunity to make a significant down-payment on improving salaries for those early childhood teachers and staff working in community-based organizations and those working with infants and toddlers.
This year, there are two ways to participate in ISBE’s budget process.
-
Submit your funding request: Complete and submit ISBE FY2023 Budget Hearing Form. This step must be completed prior to registering to speak at a hearing. Written requests must be received by ISBE no later than October 21.
-
Sign up to testify or register to listen: After completing your funding request, you can also sign-up to testify at one of the budget hearings. You must sign up if you wish to speak at a hearing so that you can be included in the official schedule. You must also register prior to the hearing if you choose to be a “listener.”
