The hours of Park Police recordings we obtained, which have been covered by Rachel Maddow, CNN and MSNBC, have shed new light on how January 6th unfolded, and have exposed that federal law enforcement was overwhelmed by protestors many hours earlier than we originally knew.

Hours before the Capitol was breached on January 6th, the Park Police was already overwhelmed, struggling to hold back mobs of protestors at the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Park Police recordings obtained by CREW make clear just how unprepared Park Police and other federal agencies were for the throngs of rioters who ultimately attacked the Capitol.
