Dear Friend --
Today, Long Beach reached another great milestone in our ongoing
economic boom: After many years of hard work, the new shopping center
at 2nd and PCH held its grand opening and is now open for
business!
With a Whole Foods, great restaurants, and 11 acres and two stories
of businesses, this is no ordinary shopping center. Unique restaurants
and shops, a stunning waterfront view, and amazing murals by local
artists make it a regional attraction and a terrific place to spend a
few hours with friends or family. This new development brings economic
activity to the city, adds local jobs, and provides a wide variety of
amenities to residents.
I want to thank all the people who had a hand in moving this
project forward. Councilwoman Suzie Price has put in many hours
ensuring not only that this project got done, but also that it would
be a good fit for the neighborhood. The results speak for
themselves.
I also want to thank the developer, CenterCal, and their President
Jean Paul Wardy, not just for seeing this project through, but for
ensuring an exciting mix of tenants that bring needed goods and
services to our community. And a huge thanks to Raymond Lin and our
city team for working to make sure this project got to
completion.
Finally, I want to thank all the residents who participated in the
development process over the years, giving their input and being very
patient with planning and construction.
When you visit 2nd and PCH I think you’ll agree it was
worth the wait. I hope you’ll visit soon!
Go Long Beach!
Mayor Robert Garcia
