Last week, WFP champions in Congress successfully defeated attempts by corporate Democrats to pass an infrastructure bill that did not include our progressive priorities. John, we prepared for this moment.
Every day, we work to elect transformational leaders across the country who will meet moments like these, and build real governing power with them once they are in office. And when push came to shove, progressive leaders in Congress including Pramila Jayapal, Jamaal Bowman, Mondaire Jones, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, Melanie Stansbury, Bonnie Watson Coleman, and so many more stood shoulder-to-shoulder with working families in their districts and held the line in Congress in the fight for historic investments in our communities.

A small handful of corporate Democrats didn’t want to commit to transformative investments in working people. This certainly won’t be the last we hear of their efforts to protect the interests of corporations and the ultrawealthy. But as our progressive coalition in Congress is growing, so is our power.
WFP champions didn’t back down from Medicare expansion, universal child care, pre-K, and community college, climate action, affordable housing, and so much more because these policies are incredibly popular with the people. We want to let them know how many of us have their backs as they continue this fight — because it’s too important to slow down or back down.
