Dear John,

Check out the newest issue of Health Affairs, which includes a themed paper cluster about perinatal mental health.
Perinatal Mental Health & More
Health Affairs
Mental health conditions, such as mood and anxiety disorders, are diagnosed in one of every five pregnant or postpartum people. Despite its high burden of morbidity, mortality, and economic cost, perinatal mental illness is poorly addressed by the current US health care system.

The October 2021 issue of Health Affairs features a large cluster of articles focused on perinatal mental health. These papers discuss several dimensions of perinatal mental health, including maternal morbidity and mortality, adverse birth outcomes, and systemic oppression faced by many birthing people with mental illness.

Read about these topics and much more in the full October 2021 issue.

Today on Health Affairs Blog, Jon Kingsdale explains the challenges facing Massachusetts in controlling health care spending within the existing delivery and financing framework.

Elevating Voices: Hispanic Heritage Month: In a 2017 article, José Pagán and coauthors developed a scorecard for all fifty states and the District of Columbia that measured the use of five evidence-based policies to address domains related to health equity. They found that states varied significantly in their implementation of the selected policies.
