McAuliffe criticized online after saying he doesn't believe parents
should tell schools what to teach

What Happened:

During the final Virginia gubernatorial debate before the election,
Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe said, "I don't think parents should
be telling schools what they should teach."

Why You Should Care:

McAuliffe made the controversial statement after Republican nominee
Glenn Youngkin asserted that parents should have more of a say in the
decisions of local school districts. It justifiably caused an uproar on
social media, as parents maintained their right to have a say in their
childrens' education over the government.
