Amid Left-Wing Push To 'Defund The Police,' Murders Skyrocket By
Nearly 30 Percent
What Happened:
The FBI released its 2020 crime report this week, and the numbers show
that while Democrats called to defund the police last year, crime
skyrocketed.
Why You Should Care:
In 2020, there were 1,277,696 violent crimes, with a 30% increase in the
murder rate. According to the FBI: "For the first time in four years,
the estimated number of violent crimes in the nation increased when
compared with the previous year's statistics."

'Border Crisis' Executive Order
What Happened:
This week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis took significant actions to address
the southern border crisis both in his home state and nationally.
Why You Should Care:
These actions include filing a lawsuit against the White House over
President Biden's failed border policies and signing an executive
order to protect Floridians from the impacts of the border crisis. Gov.
DeSantis: "We're not gonna be a party to this lawlessness."
What Happens Next:
While the Biden Administration has continued to do nothing to address
the crisis, hopefully Gov. DeSantis' lawsuit will finally lead to
much-needed federal action.

What Happened:
During the final Virginia gubernatorial debate before the election,
Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe said, "I don't think parents should
be telling schools what they should teach."
Why You Should Care:
McAuliffe made the controversial statement after Republican nominee
Glenn Youngkin asserted that parents should have more of a say in the
decisions of local school districts. It justifiably caused an uproar on
social media, as parents maintained their right to have a say in their
childrens' education over the government.
