Dear Friend,
The freedom to vote is under attack. Millions of Americans — especially women, people of color, and people with disabilities — are at risk of being silenced by a cascade of anti-voter bills.
Many of us are working hard to counter anti-voter legislation. Yet the undemocratic Senate filibuster continues to stand in the way of our progress.
We cannot afford any more excuses: President Biden must act now to fix or nix the filibuster and protect the right to vote.
That’s why on Tuesday, October 5th, we’re returning to the White House following our August action to demand that the President use his full power to ensure the passage of federal voting rights legislation.
Join us online or in person on Tuesday, October 5th at 9:30AM to demand that the White House make the freedom to vote a priority.
When: Tuesday, October 5th starting at 9:30am
Where: Black Lives Matter Plaza (corner of 16th and K St. NW)
What: Solidarity event to support civil rights leaders taking direct action so support voting rights!
For months, in the face of voter suppression bills being introduced and enacted in states across the across, activists have been fighting to protect the freedom to vote by calling their members of Congress, attending rallies, writing letters to the editor, and lobbying their elected representatives.
Now, we are on the brink of being able to pass a transformative bill, the Freedom to Vote Act, but there is one more barrier in the way. We must fix or nix the filibuster, and we need President Biden’s leadership in calling on the Senate to make this happen.
Join us on Tuesday, October 5th at 9:30AM!
Our democracy is strongest when every voice is heard. Make yours heard on October 5th.
Signed,
Team MARCH ON
