Hey everyone,
Can you believe it’s already the month of October? It feels like 2021 is really flying by!
It was only several months ago that I was standing there, the only Black woman in the Senate chambers, making the case against Donald Trump after he incited an insurrection on January 6th. While not enough Republicans had a spine on that day, we were able to convince 57 Senators to vote to convict Trump for what he had done and I’m proud of that.
In the months after the impeachment trial, we started reaching out to supporters like you so that we could continue this fight for truth and justice in Washington.
Together, we have fought back against Donald Trump’s lies about the 2020 election. We have worked to pass some of the most important legislation for our children and families, including stimulus checks, the Child Tax Credit and funding for vaccines to keep us safe. We have continued making our voices heard in the fight for voting rights and meaningful criminal justice reform, and we have done it all thanks to your unwavering donations and support.
As a Black mother of five from the U.S. Virgin Islands, I never imagined the kind of platform I would have to make a real difference in our country’s future, but I am so grateful to be in a position to help us forge the path ahead. And I’m determined to continue waging these fights with your ongoing help and support… because these are the fights that matter.
