San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Mara Rodriguez told Inside Edition that Cho was staying at the rental with a group of friends and reportedly became "upset" over an unspecified issue. She then allegedly walked away from the rental without taking food, water or her phone and hasn't been heard from since. A search warrant was executed on the Benmar Trail residence on July 31 and repeated aerial searches in the "remote mountain terrain near the scene," yielded no clues, the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Office said in a recent update on the case. Foul play is not suspected. Cho is 5-foot-3, 110 pounds and has black hair. She was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt and jeans and has multiple distinctive tattoos, including one of a mushroom, No-Face from the movie "Spirited Away" and a lamb. Employees must provide proof of being fully vaccinated or exemption by uploading their vaccine certification and other information to a specialized online database. The order issued in early August affects more than 110,000 LA County employees, including those who work for the sheriff’s department and LA County Fire. Many first responders have not been vaccinated and are refusing the order. Vaccination numbers among police and fire agencies are almost all lower than the general population. FOX 11 Hot, Dry Weather Challenges Crews Fighting California Wildfires Crews faced challenging conditions as they worked to contain wildfires in the southern Sierra amid unusually warm temperatures and historic drought. The KNP Complex fire in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park had burned 58,283 acres and was 20% contained as of early Saturday, when it sparked new evacuation warnings in Fresno County. Those in Sequoia Lake, Cedarbrook, Etheda Springs and Pinehurst were told to be prepared to leave. A thick layer of smoke that had settled over the fire reduced visibility, limiting the use of aircraft, said Cassie Adams, public information officer on the incident. Crews were keeping a close eye on the weather in case the inversion lifted later in the day, which would allow the use of more aircraft but could also cause fire activity to pick up and create dangerous conditions for firefighters, she said. They were also using drones equipped with infrared cameras to conduct reconnaissance that might ordinarily be done by planes, she said. While the smoke was mostly concentrated over the fire, some of it was draining into the San Joaquin Valley, producing poor air quality along the east side, said David Spector, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Hanford. Los Angeles Times Local Government News LA Council Pushes Marijuana Regulators To Clear The Haze Around License Delays The LA City Council will consider directing the City's Department of Cannabis Regulation to speed up the licensing process for many would-be marijuana retailers. "Stakeholders report waiting months to receive basic licensing responses from DCR," Councilmen Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Curren Price, Jr. said a motion introduced this week. "Hundreds of critical license modification requests remain unprocessed, many almost a year after submission," they said. The long delays have meant many applicants, including more than 100 who qualified under the City's social equity program, have spent untold sums of money renting commercial space while waiting for their permits to be approved. Holding a suitable space is a licensing requirement for many applicants. "It's a complete mess," said Johnny Sayegh with the Cannabis Equity Retailers Association, a group advocating for the social equity applicants in LA. He said there are many people who qualified for a license who have been paying rent but can't start doing business. NBC 4 L.A. Prepares To Clear Homeless People From MacArthur Park; Set To Close Oct. 15 For ‘Rehabilitation’ Work In the fight to reclaim Los Angeles’ public spaces, a new battleground is about to open just west of downtown. MacArthur Park, where homeless tents lie scattered among jacarandas, crape myrtles and palms, will be closed starting Oct. 15. The popular but benighted destination for residents of the city’s Westlake neighborhoods will join Echo Park and the Venice boardwalk as a potential flashpoint between the unhoused living in the park, their advocates, residents and city agencies attempting to do their jobs. Billed by the city as a “rehabilitation,” the closure is limited to the portion of the park south of Wilshire Boulevard and will last for about 10 weeks, said L.A. City Councilmember Gil Cedillo, whose district includes the park. The city’s Department of Recreation and Parks will use the time to catch up on maintenance that had been deferred due to COVID-19 limitations. Acting as a liaison between the community and the city, Cedillo is overseeing the effort and believes that the controversies that arose over recent relocations of homeless camps in other parts of the city will not occur at MacArthur Park.
