Life Is On The Line

Dear John,

With the U.S. Supreme Court's fall term officially starting today, the public debate on abortion and protecting the unborn is only beginning to heat up.

In recent weeks, drama erupted around Texas law Senate Bill 8, which restricts abortion once a pre-born baby's heartbeat can be detected, when it went into effect on September 1.

"For the first time in 48 years, unborn children are legally recognized as humans, with the right to life, starting at six weeks in Texas," said FRC legal analyst Katherine Beck Johnson on Washington Watch. "It's something to celebrate and have hope for moving forward."

But the Left was not celebrating.

On social media and cable news networks, they responded with vitriol and arguments that can only be termed as barbaric.

One MSNBC anchor called the law "gender apartheid." Then Newsweek contributor and Columbia University research fellow Richard Hanania tweeted: "If red states ban abortion, we could see a world where they have five times as many children with Down syndrome..."

Naturally, that "scholar" was soon inundated with pictures of precious, beautiful children who happen to have an extra chromosome. Studies show those families have above average levels of happiness. But the Left is up in arms because more children with Down syndrome will be spared from a gruesome death.

For decades, FRC and the pro-life movement have advocated for the value of every life.

Now lives hang in the balance. Our rapid-response efforts to get the truth out -- including our national program Washington Watch -- matter more than ever.

Can you give generously to support FRC's crucial work of education and mobilization TO SAVE LIVES?

The U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a challenge to the Texas law on procedural grounds for now, meaning it may come up again.

And we know that on December 1 the nine justices will hear the Mississippi Dobbs case involving a 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges the faulty legal foundations of Roe v. Wade. We will most likely hear their decision on the Dobbs case next June.

But regardless of what the high court eventually decides, there is work for you and me to do now.

The Biden-Harris administration and Congress are pushing for taxpayer dollars -- your money -- to pay for abortions.

It's partly why state legislatures are taking bold steps to defend vulnerable lives, with FRC experts often testifying on behalf of these pro-life policies.

The majority of Americans want abortion restricted, and they don't want Planned Parenthood funded at the taxpayer's expense. In fact, a recent Marist Poll that found 76 percent of Americans want significant restrictions on abortion.

Fully 80 percent of Americans believe laws can protect both a pregnant woman and her unborn child. Women and men nationwide expect the government to protect lives in the womb.

Simply put, we have truth and public opinion on our side. Policies from the Biden-Harris administration that force Americans to fund Planned Parenthood are out of step with the views of the vast majority.

Tragically, as FRC's new analysis "America's Direct Deposit to Planned Parenthood" reveals, Planned Parenthood most recently received $618 million from federal, state, and local entities. That means that 38 percent of their total funding comes from American taxpayers.

FRC has not relented from exposing Planned Parenthood's grisly work, with in-depth research and frequent stories on our national Washington Watch program.

Crucially, we place these facts and figures into the hands of citizens and activists like you -- front line leaders in your family, church, and community. FRC has a network of thousands of pastors and ministry leaders who rely on our resources to know and act on the truth.

Can you help us during this critical moment when lives are on the line? Your partnership with FRC will help mobilize Americans to stand against the culture of death.

Clearly, the White House has been busy trying to reverse years of pro-life advances.

But where has the church been? The fact is, even many Christians do not understand the medical or ethical implications surrounding abortion.

It shouldn't be controversial to state, "The Bible is ardently and unequivocally pro-life." But when FRC shared just that, the tweet went viral with over 17,000 people responding on Twitter alone. Many expressed support, but far too many others argued against it.

That's why FRC is focused on people in the pews as much as the halls of power. To inform Christians on what the Bible says about life in the womb and connect it to current events, we have compiled our essential pro-life resources at frc.org/abortion.

It's often said that policy and legislation are downstream from culture. But both matter.

Litigation over the Texas heartbeat law may be only beginning. But this is a ban on abortions after six weeks -- and every day it's in effect, lives are being saved!

Thank you for your vital support of FRC's mission of education and mobilization in this crucial hour.
