Welcome to our weekly newsletter about mental health services and support available in Barnet and beyond. Also bringing you updates on Inclusion Barnet mental health news.

World Mental Health Day Event

World Mental Health Day is recognised in October, and as our understanding of mental health grows, we grow along with it.

This year Meridian Wellbeing are hosting an event at The Meritage Centre on Friday 8th October, and you are invited to join them.

Date: Friday 8th October

Time: 11am to 3pm

Venue: The Meritage Centre, Hendon, London, NW4 4JT

The theme this year is 'Mental Health in an Unequal World. We all come in different shapes and sizes, and mental health affects every single one of us.

During the day stories will be shared from people who have faced challenging times with their mental health, and things they have done to promote recovery. There will also be wellbeing activities which can help us all with mental health, which includes chair yoga and 'flower bombing'

Hub Connections

Sunday 10 October is World Mental Health Day, and this year’s theme is ‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’.

Next Thursday, 7 October, Hub Connections will be hosting a space to discuss mental health, focusing on men’s mental wellbeing.

Join them for a packed programme that includes guest speakers from a wide range of organisations, as well as the usual updates from the Barnet Wellbeing Service and partners. They will also be running wellbeing activities.

Thrive LDN World Mental Health Day Festival

For the fourth consecutive year, Thrive LDN and the Mayor of London’s Peer Outreach Team are hosting a series of young Londoner-led events to mark World Mental Health Day.

This year’s festival, Never Alone LDN, takes a look at how young Londoners can come together to overcome the challenges we face, and reflecting on the experiences of young Londoners over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mental Wealth Festival

The seventh Mental Wealth Festival, hosted by City Lit, will take place from 10 – 15 October 2021 to incorporate with World Mental Health Day on Sunday 10 October. The Festival will focus on ‘Positive Impact’, and ways to adapt to the changes in our relationships with ourselves, other people, work, home, and the communities in which we live. The festival will include stories and tools to help people recognise and respond to mental health issues with positive impact as we adapt and evolve in these extraordinary times.

World Mental Health Day from Talk for Health, Thursday 7 October, 6.00 - 7.30pm

An evening of short talks and discussion with Healthwatch CEO Emma Whitby and Psychotherapist/Talk for Health Founder Nicky Forsythe. Do you think access to mental health is fair? Do you and your loved ones get help when you need it? If not, why not? What needs to change?

Building Friendship

Building Friendship is a free weekly drop in every Friday for those with mental health difficulties.

Meet at East Barnet Baptist Church hall, EN4 8PS. Come along for a cup of coffee and a friendly chat between 10am and 12noon.

Mind & Mood Support Group has returned to face to face meetings at 55 Christchurch Avenue, London N12 0DG. To enquire about becoming a new member, please contact either Peter or Sandra below.

We are an independent support group, run by ex service users, for service users, their carers and supporters.

We are a Peer-Led Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation (DDPO).

Nearly all of our directors and staff have lived experience of disability, including mental health issues and/or long-term health conditions.

We believe that learning to use our lived experience for social change is a skill. We have become experts in harnessing the lived experience of our staff, members, volunteers and the people who use our services to design and deliver higher quality, more person-centred services.
