| | Court Hearing Doesn’t Stop Heartbeat Law Momentum on its Anniversary On Friday, a federal court in Texas held a hearing about the Texas Heartbeat Law, based on a lawsuit from the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office and others made arguments in response to the Biden Administration’s lawsuit. The hearing ended with the judge saying that he would take everything under advisement. Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney at Texas Values released the following statement after the hearing: “Today’s court hearing again shows that while the federal government is trying to mess with Texas with another political lawsuit, the Heartbeat Law continues to gain momentum and court efforts continue to fail. Today is the one month anniversary since the Heartbeat law went into effect and about 4,600 Texan babies’ lives have been saved. Community centers are responding to support moms and babies in Texas.” |

| | Texas Values Team on the Ground as Austin City Council Seeks to Block the Heartbeat Law Jonathan Covey and Mary Elizabeth Castle of Texas Values were on the ground in response to the Austin City Council meeting on Thursday morning to review a resolution and propose a response to the passing of the Heartbeat Law and the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) lawsuit against Texas. There were two main objectives to this specific meeting. One goal was to involve Austin businesses in the city's efforts to block the Heartbeat Law and not implement it within their own practice. The second goal was to vote in support of urging the City Manager to aim some of the city's funds towards challenging the Heartbeat Law by contributing to the legal resources. The Austin City Council firmly agreed on a proposal to file an amicus brief to the DOJ's current lawsuit against the Heartbeat Law. Sadly, the Austin City Council also agreed to continue its funding of abortion. |
| | | Gov. Greg Abbot Signed the "No Mail Order Abortions" Bill into Law at the Texas Values Policy Forum! Last Friday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbot signed the “No Mail Order Abortions” bill into law on the stage of the Texas Values Faith, Family, and Freedom Policy Forum with many different pro-life groups surrounding Gov. Abbott in support. The crowd soared with a victory chant as the Governor officially signed the bill into Law. The “No Mail Order Abortions” bill (S.B. 4), establishes commonsense safety regulations for chemical abortion pills in Texas, including prohibiting these dangerous drugs from being sent through the mail. S.B. 4 is a crucial measure given the abortion lobby push to increase this method of abortion in Texas and in other states. |
