Politicians in the city of Gainesville were attempting to violate Florida’s ban on vaccine passports by mandating that all Gainesville public employees get vaccinated or lose their jobs. Even though first responders worked throughout the pandemic and even though many have immunity through prior infection, Gainesville was set to fire them over COVID shots, effectively kicking them to the curb. This political power grab did NOT fly with Governor DeSantis. He stepped in to protect Floridians from government overreach that threatened the jobs and livelihoods with oppressive and nonsensical mandates. On Friday, the city of Gainesville REVERSED their illegal mandate in a MASSIVE victory for the jobs of our first responders and for individual freedom.
