Dear Friends and Supporters,
This weekend, communities around the country will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA. As I reflect on the year that has transpired since that fateful Shabbat morning, I can’t help but think about the range of roles we each play in our communities, and how each of them can make a unique contribution to fighting hate for good.
Whether we’re parents or children, students or teachers, professionals or activists, congregation members or unaffiliated – there are countless identities we hold that inform and guide our commitment to our mission at ADL – to confront and combat anti-Semitism, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.
Over the next 3 days, and in the weeks that follow, I ask that you consider taking just one action that brings your values, perspectives, identities and community roles into this work, in memory of the lives lost in Pittsburgh.
We made a list of 11 actions you could take in honor and memory of the victims. We also recognize this moment in the history of our community impacted each of us differently, and so the personal commitments and steps we take to remember and respond must reflect the diversity of our movement.
Let us come together this Shabbat in reflection, and let us leave rededicated to our good fight.
Sincerely,

Doron Ezickson
