Submit Your Abstract Now for NASN2022!
The NASN2022 Oral and Poster abstract submission form is open.

If you have an abstract for a breakout, workshop, preconference, general or poster session, please consider submitting before October 11, 2021.

Begin with the call for abstract submission details on NASN.org. NASN looks forward to receiving a diverse group of submissions to fill out the conference schedule.
Virtual NASN2021 Deadline Extended 
We understand that the beginning of this school year has been an extremely trying time to wrap up Virtual NASN2021. Because of this, NASN is extending the conference deadline to October 15. This is the final deadline NASN can extend as we are already moving forward with the development of new programs and products for the fall. Please view all content and complete CNE requirements including session assessments and evaluations by this deadline. We hope this is helpful to you as you navigate a busy new school year and earn much-needed CNE.

Managing Chronic Health Conditions
Proposals Open for Type 1 Diabetes Camps Initiative
School nurses know the value of diabetes camp for students with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The Eli Lilly and Company and the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Trust are collaborating to create inclusive opportunities for all children with T1D have access diabetes camps. Camps can make a proposal for funding to provide camperships to low-income youth with T1D, along with funds for capital improvement and adaptations to meet the physical requirements of COVID-19 of the camps. Make diabetes camps aware of this 3 three-year initiative that allows diabetes camps to request for funds. See the news release on this. The due date for proposals is October 15, 2021. Apply for funding now.

Resources and Tools to Support Emotional Well-Being
The National Academies has developed a package of evidence-informed, web-based resources for teachers, parents, and other caregivers to help children and youth build cognitive-behavioral skills for coping with stress and anxiety. These resources are available in both English and Spanish. You can also register for a webinar on September 30 to learn more about how these tools were created.
Self-Assessment Tool Helps Promote Equitable Access to School Meals
The Nutrition and Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (NOPREN) has created a Meal Distribution Communication checklist/assessment as a resource for school districts. This is a self-assessment tool to help schools and school districts communicate with families, students, community members, and service agencies about school meal distribution during planned and unplanned school closures. The tool promotes the use of strategies that help ensure equitable access to these critical meal programs.
Training Helps Providers Deal With Eating Disorders in Pediatric Primary Care Settings
School nurses are eligible for this free online webinar, “Screening, Symptom Recognition and Referral to Treatment for Eating Disorders in Pediatric Primary Care Settings” for those providers who treat children, adolescents, or young adults. The training was developed by the Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED), based at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Learn practical resources for making referrals for treatment when needed and earn 3 CE.

Introducing NASN’s New Lunch & Learn Series
Parent & Teen Perspectives: Effective Communications & Advocacy Strategies for Adolescent Vaccination
Do you want to learn how school nurses can implement effective communications and advocacy strategies to help support and improve adolescent vaccination in school environments? You will be able to create ​and implement effective communications strategies that empower students and build vaccine knowledge among students and their parents to enhance adolescent vaccination uptake after this series. In addition, two mothers (including a fellow nurse) who each lost their adolescent daughters to a vaccine-preventable disease (Meningitis B) will share best practices for increasing awareness and the uptake of vaccination. This course is part of the new NASN Lunch & Learn Series and is now available in the NASN Learning Center. Learn more or enroll in Parent & Teen Perspectives: Effective Communications & Advocacy Strategies for Adolescent Vaccination.
