The compelling evidence and testimony we heard from the President's own diplomats makes the obvious even more clear. President Donald Trump abused the power of the presidency for his own personal gain and placed his own political interests above national security interests.

Based on what I heard from Ambassador Taylor's testimony, "everything," in the words of U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, was contingent on the Ukrainians agreeing to go after Burisma and agreeing to go after Joe Biden and Hunter Biden.

This is an abuse of power. This is an attempt to solicit 2020 election interference from a foreign country.

I encourage you to read Ambassador Taylor's opening statement released to the public.

The Republicans are hanging their hat on the idea that there was no quid pro quo, when the Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney there was.

As we continue these hearings and listen to senior level people from this White House speak about what happened, it is important for the American public to hear from them as well to understand exactly what happened. I will continue to send updates as we learn more and as open hearings are held.

Accountability and transparency must remain a top priority and we must learn the truth. No one is above the law.

Jim
