After the deadly January 6 attack on our U.S. Capitol Building, corporations like General Motors, American Airlines, Tyson, and others pledged to halt all political donations to those in Congress who incited and abetted the insurrection.
But now, less than a year later, the corporate PACs of many of these leading companies have quietly resumed these donations. We need to hold them accountable for supporting far-right legislators who enabled this violent attack on our democracy.
Since restarting their donations, these corporate PACs have already contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the re-election campaigns of far-right lawmakers who voted to overturn the 2020 election. It’s shameful that now that they think no one is looking, they’re once again backing the members of Congress who enabled an attack on our democracy at Donald Trump’s command.
We need to show them that we’re paying attention. That’s why we’re shining a light on their actions and demanding that they recommit to putting our democracy before partisan political interests by halting all contributions to these insurrectionist lawmakers.
