A PERSONAL NOTE

Hi! I hope you're all having a good weekend. I've been doing some autumn stuff which I'll get into further in the Prepping section of the newsletter.

I brought in my plants that weren't liking the cooler nights and this little guy hijacked his way into my apartment. I caught him in a jar moments before my dog Thor could eat him. I put him back on the patio with a dish of water where I hope he continues to hang out with my lettuce.

You have all been so kind with your good wishes about Bella. I didn't have a substantive update to give until this point, thus the delay.

The original biopsy was inconclusive and they had to do further demineralization of the bone to get more information. The result is some good news and some bad news.

THE GOOD NEWS: She definitely does not have cancer. She did have a concurrent issue with an antibiotic-resistant Pasteurella infection in the bone of her upper mandible. We finally seem to have the right antibiotic and the infection is receding, although she'll be on antibiotics for at least 3 more weeks.

THE BAD NEWS: She has a large tumor on her snout of unknown origin. Unfortunately, it is still growing rapidly. The tumor is growing out of the bone and her entire upper mandible would have to be removed to get rid of it. That's just too extensive a procedure for an 11-year-old dog and her quality of life would suffer dramatically so we have opted not to do that.

Right now, it's not causing her noticeable pain or affecting her appetite or love for walks and cuddles. At some point, it will get too big for her to be able to function comfortably. We have no idea if that will be in a month or 6 months.

For now, we'll just enjoy every moment we can. It's all any of us can do, anyway, right?

Speaking of which, I can't believe it but my "baby" turned 21 this week. We took the top off the Jeep, got lots of late summer sunshine, and took a little road trip. We hit some yard sales and did a little bit of shopping. We had a great day!

Happy birthday, R! ❤️

WHAT I'VE BEEN WATCHING AND READING THIS WEEK
This week in the Censored States of America:

And outside the US, more than 100 were arrested in Australia after extreme police brutality was used to shut down and silence vaccine protests.

In other news:

The worst thing you can do is ignore this as you think to yourself, "It'll all be fine."
Don’t wait around until it's too late..

Are you watching the news and feeling your concern level grow as you see more government spending, more shortages, more rising prices? You’re not alone.

The good news... You're invited to discover the SOLUTION!

WHAT I'M DOING TO PREP THIS WEEK
This week, I started the process of moving part of my patio garden indoors. I picked up a couple of plant stands on Amazon and relocated things in my tiny apartment. Using the top of my dog crate, I have a little herb garden, a place to start sprouting seeds for microgreens, and an area where I hope to continue growing lettuce throughout the winter.

I threw in a few decorative items (see my Halloween air plant, globe, and pretty rocks? I am trying to keep this area in line with my covert urban prepping theme. I got supplies to also harvest and dry some herbs, and the dogs and I have located some medicinal goodies to wildcraft while we are out walking.

A SHOUT OUT TO OUR SPONSORS
Here are the sponsors that are helping keep The Organic Prepper website and The Frugalite FREE for everyone. If you are looking for a product they sell, please consider supporting them too!

***Do you use CBD? I use it for myself, my pets, and other family members and can tell you that we have had some great results. Even my furbaby with the tumor is greatly relieved by a dose at bedtime. The only company I trust to sell a pure, not-watered-down product is Organica Naturals. I know the owners personally and they are good people running a family business.

***The Home Security Superstore is jam-packed with the things you need to keep your home and loved ones safe and secure. I've purchased quite a few things from there and they've all been top-notch. (I carry a tazing baton when out walking the dogs at night, and just a little visual demonstration of the zap is quite the deterrent. #askmehowiknow)

*** We have worked with Legacy Foods for years now. I strongly, strongly recommend ordering buckets now if you are planning on doing so. Food shortages are going to hit every arena, and you need to get ahead of the crowd. Here are some recommended products:

You can get powdered milk, packaged for the long-term.
They have some awesome protein sources, too. (Something that is missing in many prepper pantries.)
And of course, COFFEE.

***There's still time to get a few things planted in your fall garden. Check out Seeds for Generation's FREE fall planting calendar. This is another business in which I know the owners personally - you'll be supporting a family, not a huge corporation.
