Friends,
This month, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I want to draw your attention to yet another piece of legislation that Senate Republicans refuse to consider: the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act.
This important legislation strengthens support for programs that provide resources and safety to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. It also expands protections for women on tribal lands and empowers law enforcement to restrict gun purchases by convicted abusers.
This spring, I was proud to sit in the Speaker’s chair and preside over the passage of this important legislation in the House. But now, after more than 5 months without action , it’s time for the Senate to follow our lead and bring this bill to a vote.
I need 5,000 supporters to join our call to action and demand a vote in the Senate to protect survivors of domestic and gendered violence.

Here in Kansas, we’re facing a serious domestic violence problem. In 2017, the number of domestic violence-related homicides in our state doubled from the previous year, the most we’ve seen in the previous two decades.
The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act is just one in a long line of important bills that Senate Republicans refuse even to call to a vote – but as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, honoring survivors and victims across the country, this legislation takes on renewed importance.
That’s why I’m calling on our supporters to join me in demanding a vote in the Senate to pass the Violence Against Women Act and take a stand to give women the protections and resources they need in the face of domestic and sexual abuse.
Please add your name in the next 24 hours to demand that the Senate pass this legislation → [[link removed]]
Thank you for speaking up.
