Hey all,

Two years ago this month, a decades-long movement was brought into the national spotlight. It was in October of 2017 that actress Alyssa Milano’s “#MeToo” tweet, a phrase created by activist Tarana Burke, went viral on Twitter.

The astounding number of women who shared their stories or simply tweeted back “Me Too” was earth-shattering to a culture that often overlooks and normalizes sexual harassment, while belittling the experiences of survivors.

Black women have been saying “Me Too” for decades. When Tarana Burke created the “Me Too” campaign in 2007, she was following in the footsteps of activists Recy Taylor and Rosa Parks -- who launched a national movement that demanded equal justice for women.

Recy, Rosa, and Tarana’s fight for equality is far from over. Black women are severely underrepresented in American democracy -- which is why we are dedicated to electing Black women to office to fight for justice and change.

To be a part of our work to elect the next Black wave and ensure more Black women are representing us, pitch in $5 or whatever you can today.
