"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Romans 8:38-39
Africa & Europe
Praise God for a successful media training this week in Kenya. Public understanding of police brutality and how it devastates communities experiencing poverty has created a demand for accountability. In a one-week training, journalists learned about the legal and constitutional provisions that protect the public from police violence in Kenya, as well as techniques for interviewing survivors of violence in a sensitive manner.
We are especially grateful to God for the strong voice of Penina, a member of the survivor network Kenya Champions for Justice, who shared her personal experience of losing her husband to police brutality and advice on how to approach survivors in a caring way.
Latin America
Please pray for wisdom, grace and supernatural energy as parents across the region find ways to break the generational cycle of trauma. Many survivors supported by IJM and its partners across the region have had children either as a result of the abuse they endured or during their healing process. The generational effects of trauma are very real, even when the next generation is not directly exposed. Specifically, pray for the survivors who are currently evaluating what parts of their stories they want to share with their kids and what parts they want to leave untold.
South Asia
Praise God for the launch of a free helpline where people can call in for help or report bonded labor cases. Local leaders in this state used to deny bonded labor or modern slavery still existed. Through years of faithful work, our teams have helped reveal the truth by working collaboratively to protect the community. The state set up the new helpline largely on their own, which is a huge breakthrough in the government understanding and taking ownership of the fight against bonded labor.
Southeast Asia
Please pray for ongoing preparations for a Virtual Trip to IJM Philippines. Before COVID-19, potential donors had the opportunity to visit our program offices and see the work firsthand. This served to strengthen existing donors and provide tangible examples to new partners of where their donations were going. Since traveling and hosting new groups is not currently a safe option for our staff and donors, IJM Philippines will be hosting a Virtual Trip in November 2021. Please pray that this experience will be just as intimate and tangible for those participating and that it will draw in new partners to the work of IJM!
IJM Global Office & Partners
IJM global office is located in the United States. IJM has Partner Offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, South Korea, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Please pray for IJM’s partnership with the upcoming Fight Night Tour, an event for couples looking to strengthen their marriage. IJM will be traveling to over 10 U.S. cities alongside authors Les and Leslie Parrott, and Canadian American worship leader and speaker Dan Macaulay. Pray that as marriages are strengthened, the fight to end slavery is placed on the hearts of those in attendance.
The updates we share on survivors or their cases can become sensitive over time. To respect and protect
them, please refrain from posting these prayer requests online.
