Last weekend’s Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference had many great speakers. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was a speaker that gave a great message. She said, “Listen, we all have people in our lives that we quit talking to. That we figured they’re so far gone, they’re so liberal, we’re just not talking to them anymore, they’ve offended us. We need to get over ourselves and start having those conversations again,” Now is the time to talk to the Democrats and win them over. Your conversation will show you have more in common than you thought. People are not happy with what’s going on in Michigan and the country! They’re not happy with government over reach, sky rocketing prices, foreign policies and the pending thoughts the worst is yet to come. We need to take Gov. Noem’s advice. Start talking to your Democrat friends, win them over and make Michigan RED.
Currently there are 12 candidates running for Michigan governor, and they will campaign until that number is narrowed down in the August 2022 primary. Some of the candidates were at the conference meeting and greeting people. The Detroit News did a straw poll and former Detroit Police Chief James Craig won the poll with 58%. As Craig said himself, “there’s still a lot of work to do”. It’s been 60 years since a gubernatorial incumbent in Michigan lost. Time to change that statistic. Let’s make Whitmer a one term governor.
