I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth – not even close. I had 11 brothers and sisters and grew up in public housing, so I know what it's like to be counted out before you even get started.

But through hard work and the support of my family and community, I went on to become the senior pastor at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s church. Now, this kid from the housing projects is fighting for families like mine in the Senate – to build a government that works for everyone, not just those at the top.

But here's the thing: Republicans only need to flip one seat to retake Senate control for Mitch McConnell, and NBC news confirms the GOP is coming after me as the TOP target for defeat. Their attacks seem to be paying off, too: A new poll shows me locked in a razor-thin race with my Trump-picked opponent.

With everything from voting rights to health care at stake in this race, we have to prove all of these polls and pundits wrong. We've done it before, and I know we can do it again – but I need your help.
