Friend,
Just hours after Republicans blocked a vote to permanently provide funding for 9/11 first responders, retired New York firefighter Kevin Nolan was dead.
On Wednesday night, two more first responders died from similar cancers.
Brave men and women who responded within seconds to the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history are continuing to suffer from chronic and terminal illnesses nearly two decades later, facing daily choices about whether to pay their bills or pay for treatment.
Meanwhile, members of Congress who voted to give billionaires a tax break just a short time ago won't do the bare minimum for heroes who can barely afford their medication.
It's time for Congress to stop playing politics with first responders' lives and permanently reauthorize the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. If you agree, add your name now.

We can't balance the budget on the backs of first responders.
Not only is the cost of treating them with dignity and paying for ongoing medical care a minuscule expense compared to the rest of our federal budget -- failing them would represent a broken promise to all the first responders who protect and save our lives daily.
This is not only about the lives of our heroes -- it's about who we are as a nation. It's time to show Congress what that means.
Tell Congress: "Stop playing politics with first responders' lives. Reauthorize the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund now."
