Folks,
We’ve always known that Republicans would try to manipulate the maps this year. That’s why we’ve been preparing since early 2017 to mobilize a movement of folks all over the country who want fair maps and an end to GOP gerrymandering.
Sadly, this is exactly the kind of brazen, gerrymandered congressional map we were expecting Texas Republicans to release. Get a load of some of these districts:

New districts should represent the communities responsible for the state’s population growth, but this map does the exact opposite. And the same can be said for both state legislative maps released by Texas Republicans.
Despite the fact that communities of color are responsible for nearly all of the increase in Texas’ population, there would actually be fewer Black- and Hispanic-majority congressional districts under Republicans’ proposed map. It ignores the growth and influence of communities of color, plain and simple.
We’re going to do everything in our power to fight back and ensure voters all over Texas receive the representation in Congress that the Constitution entitles them to. That means shining a spotlight on the legislators responsible for the new maps, mobilizing our grassroots supporters, and supporting the passage of the Freedom to Vote Act which would end the practice of congressional partisan gerrymandering altogether.
