Last night, progressives held the line — saving the president’s agenda and delaying the House vote on the infrastructure bill until we deliver on our promises to the American people with the Build Back Better Act.

In a moment, I’ll explain why this decision was so important — but if you’re ready to support my fight for people-first policies in Congress, you can chip in now at this link.

Friends, 96% of House and Senate Democrats support moving forward with both the infrastructure package AND the Build Back Better Act. It’s a small, 4% margin who aren’t holding up their end of the deal and getting in the way of passing President Biden’s agenda.

Despite conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin complaining about Build Back Better’s price tag, the bill won’t add to the deficit — it will be paid for by finally taxing large corporations and the wealthy their fair share.

Let’s be real: The only people who have a real issue with that are corporate lobbyists whose industries will be held accountable and the politicians who rely on their donations.

Last I checked, our obligation is to workers and families — not corporations and the wealthy few. The Build Back Better Act, along with the infrastructure bill, is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest not only in improving our crumbling infrastructure, but in expanding Medicare and lowering prescription drug costs, and providing childcare and job training, and free community college. It will greenlight more low income and affordable housing, give more immigrants a pathway to citizenship, and address the existential threat of climate change while creating good-paying jobs.

If you read all this and are thinking this is the kind of bill that would change your life for the better, you’re not alone. The majority of people in this country support it for a reason.

That’s why I refuse to let a handful of conservative Democrats and corporate lobbyists call the shots. I will keep holding the line until we fulfill the promises we made to the people who voted for us when they elected a Democratic majority.

But conservative Democrats and corporate lobbyists aren’t letting this go without a fight — the fossil fuel industry, Big Pharma, and other industries have already spent millions to stop this bill.

I will never take a penny from corporate PACs, so I’m counting on this grassroots team to help fight back and support my people-first work in Congress — will you chip in any amount right now?

Rest assured, I won’t let up until we pass a progressive agenda that will transform lives and livelihoods. Thanks for helping me do just that.
