John –

Four years ago today, my hometown of Las Vegas was a community left devastated and heartbroken when a gunman opened fire on concertgoers attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival. What was supposed to be a fun night out with family and friends enjoying their favorite country music artists on the Las Vegas Strip turned into a massacre.

The Route 91 shooting remains the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. Sixty innocent people lost their lives as a result of this senseless act of violence, and more than 500 were injured.

That night, police officers, firefighters, first responders, medical personnel and community members acted with immense courage and compassion to save as many lives as they could. In the days that followed, community members, restaurants and business owners stepped up to donate blood, food and resources to the victims. We saw the extraordinary courage and selflessness of Nevadans – but no community should have to experience a tragedy like this again.

Four years ago, I stood on the Senate floor and told Nevadans I would fight to pass commonsense gun safety legislation so no community has to ever again endure the devastation too many communities like Las Vegas have. And four years later, Mitch McConnell has refused to allow this legislation to move forward. But I will not give up. I am committed to saving lives from gun violence, and I will continue to fight.

I implore you to stand with me. We must continue to push so we can protect our friends, families and communities. Together, we will get this done.

Vegas Strong,

Catherine
