John,
Joe Manchin is moveable.
This week, when confronted by activists demanding the rich and corporations start paying their fair share, Manchin emerged from his yacht to say, “I definitely agree with you. That’s the number one thing we should be doing is fixing the tax code so everyone pays their fair share.”[1]
Now, a new poll, commissioned by Americans for Tax Fairness and our allies at West Virginia Citizen Action Group shows that 70% of West Virginians support the full 10-year $3.5 trillion Build Back Better agenda when it’s paid for by fairer taxes on the rich and corporations.[2]
This poll was just featured on The Rachel Maddow Show. Click here to watch Rachel Maddow’s reporting and then pitch in to keep the pressure on Joe Manchin to invest in President Biden’s full $3.5 trillion Build Back Better agenda―paid for by finally making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.
The poll comes at a critical moment as the framework for the Build Back Better Act is being negotiated between progressives and moderates on Capitol Hill.
Senator Manchin only wants to invest $1.5 trillion in working families―not even close to the full $3.5 trillion that is needed.
We know we can fully fund Build Back Better and provide monthly Child Tax Credit payments to families of 60 million children; Medicare coverage for dental, hearing and vision; free pre-K for 3- and 4-year olds; free community college―and so much more!―when the rich and corporations start paying their fair share.
Watch the reporting on our latest poll, then pitch in today to keep the pressure on Senator Manchin and moderates in Congress to fully invest in our future―paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.
