Floridians are waking up to a pay raise, the minimum wage is increasing from $8.65 to $10 an hour.

Next year, it will be $11, then $12, until we get to $15 for all our workers. 

This has been a hard-won battle for many of our most vulnerable neighbors for years. The Republican Legislature fought us at every turn, but thanks to you, an overwhelming majority of Floridians, it's finally a reality.

To me, it's proof that we can make progress no matter the odds. That even in a state like Florida, that there are more fighting for progress than against it. That we the people, can and will win.

Enjoy this. Remember that it was just a decade ago when our LGBTQ neighbors gained marriage equality, that a lifetime ago blacks and whites were still segregated, and that the long arc of freedom always bends towards justice.
