Silencing Speaker Pelosi

Last Tuesday, July 16, 2019, did not go as planned for the Left. Between Speaker Pelosi’s out of order comments on the House floor and the firing of Planned Parenthood’s president, liberals were left with their heads in their hands.

Over the weekend, President Trump tweeted ([link removed]) about Democrat congresswomen who continuously attack the United States. Of course, this enraged the Left who called the comments “racist” since the women referenced are minorities. House Democrats immediately drafted a resolution (H. Res. 489 ([link removed]) ) condemning the President, but Republicans were ready for this fight.

During the debate, Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) pointed out that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) violated House guidelines by calling the President’s remarks racist during her floor speech. The House uses Thomas Jefferson’s “Manual of Parliamentary Practice” which states ([link removed]) that remarks on the House floor cannot be “personally offensive to the President” or accuse the President of making a “bigoted or racist statement.” Collins asked that Pelosi’s words be stricken from the Congressional Record.

Democrats were caught off-guard. Pelosi’s comments were ruled out of order which banned her from speaking on the House floor for the rest of the day. After heated ([link removed]) internal discussions between Democrats, and the presiding chair abandoning his role, Democrats voted to keep her comments in the Congressional Record, restored her speaking rights, and passed the resolution along party lines. However, Republicans were able to draw attention to Democrats' blatant disregard for our government processes just to undermine President Trump and his agenda.

Shortly after this debacle, Planned Parenthood made an explosive announcement. During a secret meeting, Planned Parenthood voted to remove their president, Leana Wen, after 8 short months. Wen’s statement ([link removed]) claimed that she and the board had “philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood." Planned Parenthood’s statement ([link removed]) makes clear that the organization wishes to aggressively pursue political means to continue their destructive agenda. Thousands of Planned Parenthood supporters voiced their anger on social media over this decision.

The abortion industry is in a panic over the recent pro-life wins. The Trump administration has made great strides to pull funding from abortion facilities. States are passing monumental legislation to protect unborn babies. Currently, at least 20 cases ([link removed]) pertaining to abortion are moving to the Supreme Court which could overrule Roe v. Wade. The 2020 election could dismantle the abortion industry and shift the culture.

This week made clear that Americans are tired of the extreme policies and politics in which the Left engages. Eagle Forum will continue to bring to light the deceptive liberal agenda and encourage all to have a voice in the fight.
