Friend,it's hard to believe fall is already here, but thanks to the support of grassroots efforts we're starting the season with our best foot forward.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

Safety for every resident remains a top priority for Mayor Kate Gallego. Phoenix is well on its way to emerging from the pandemic stronger and better than before. Phoenix is now offering COVID-19 vaccines at mobile vans that go into communities. The mayor visited a middle school this week where parents lined up half an hour before the vaccination event opened to receive their vaccines.

Heat Mitigation

Managing heat is an important priority in Phoenix.  The city has the largest Cool Pavement Program in the country, where streets receive a light-colored coating so that they don't absorb as much heat.  ASU has found that asphalt in the Cool Pavement Program is ten degrees cooler in the afternoon.  That's a noticeable difference!  Phoenix also opened a citywide initiative, the Office of Heat Response and Mitigation to tackle heat head on. The office will help improve shade, buildings, and support those who are most vulnerable to heat impacts.

This important investment reflects Phoenix’s continued commitment to develop innovative solutions to the health and safety for every resident.

Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15th officially kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month! This month is a time of recognition and appreciation as we celebrate the many ways Phoenix's Hispanic communities strengthen our economy, culture and communities.

Events are taking place every day across the city; be sure to look up how your neighborhood is celebrating and learn about the diverse communities that call Phoenix home.

Thank you for your time,

-- Team Kate
