I'll make this quick, friend.

We've been in touch a lot this week because tonight marks one of the most important tests of our campaign's fundraising strength yet and we're still coming up short. In this email, I'll ask you for $3, but first, let me explain why it's so important.

The stakes in our race have never been higher. I'm traveling across the state, talking with (and listening to!) Iowans of all backgrounds. One thing stands out: This is not the Iowa I know.

Sure, nothing has fundamentally changed about the people -- they're still the hard-working, caring folks I've always known. They still like to get out in nature -- whether it's for a hike or hunting -- and they still like to wind down at the end of the day with a beverage and conversation with their friends and family.

What's changed about Iowa is its leadership at the top -- or lack thereof. My opponent Kim Reynolds failed to lead this state through the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, she put our kids and families needlessly at risk to pander to the furthest right-wing of her party.

It's time for our leaders to stand up for what's right -- not more political pandering. That's what we're doing on this campaign -- it's why we invite you to come as you are -- but right now, not enough Iowans know I'm running against Kim Reynolds. We can change that.
