The fight for water + life is not over

Dear John,

Yesterday, Enbridge announced that Line 3 is effectively complete, and that oil could flow through it by the end of this week. Thousands of people have taken action to stop this pipeline from violating our treaties, our water, and our futures. Hundreds have been arrested in protest. But the people with the power to protect our planet and honor our treaties have instead supported a dying industry and violently suppressed our resistance to the pipeline.

That resistance will continue. The fight for treaties, for water, and for a just transition away from fossil fuels is not over. Stay informed by following Camp Migizi, Giniw Collective, and the Indigenous Environmental Network. Continue using whatever privilege you have to support water protectors and fight for clean water and climate justice.

I’m going to keep this email brief, and ask you to take time to read this article and honor the water protectors and activists who’ve spent years resisting Line 3 and fighting for our futures.
