Hi Friend -- I want to share a bit about why your investment today in the Texas Democratic Party will pay dividends for decades to come for our progressive movement here in Texas.
First, I want to introduce myself. If we haven’t met before, I am the Travis County Judge. Today, I am writing to you about before I was elected to lead Texas’ fifth-largest county.
As you’ve heard, the Texas Democratic Party launched their 2022 Voter Registration Program with a goal of registering up to 2 million Texans. That ambitious goal is going to require some serious grassroots mobilization, and the one thing I keep thinking about is how I got my start in politics as a field organizer for the Texas Democratic Party.
As a field organizer, I registered people to vote, went block walking, and coordinated phone banks. As I spoke with people about the importance of getting involved and voting, I got to hear their stories and learn about their struggles. This is when I grew tired of seeing the same problems hurt people across our community, so I decided to commit myself to making our state a better place for everyone.
This commitment to working with people from across our state and building community power continues to guide me to this day. You’ve supported our state party before and I hope they can count on you before their end-of-quarter deadline. That is why I am asking you to make your first contribution to our state party today:

Later as the county chair of the Travis County Democratic Party, I got the chance to work with our state party again. During my time as county chair, we focused on growing our people-powered grassroots network of organizers and volunteers to register voters and drastically increase turnout in dozens of majority-minority precincts in Travis County -- and it worked.
Because the strength of our movement isn’t about any single individual. It’s about all of us working together, talking to our neighbors, getting them registered to vote, and empowering our communities to change our state.
Over the years, that is exactly what our Texas Democratic Party has done. Since the last time Greg Abbott ran for office in 2018, the number of Texans registered to vote has increased from 15.7 million to nearly 17 million registered Texans in 2020. I know this team can close the gap. We can elect more Democrats to office in Texas -- and I bet a few of those leaders will be former field organizers too!
When you contribute to our Texas Democratic Party, you are not only making an investment in registering voters for this election, you are also investing in the next generation of Texas Democratic leaders.
Our state party needs the support of Democrats like you if we’re going to turn Texas blue. That starts with hitting this end-of-quarter fundraising deadline so we can register more voters. So I have to ask: will you rush your first donation of $7 to fund this important work before their big deadline?
