People across this country want economic relief and urgent action to address climate change, and they want corporations to finally pay for it. That’s why I’m leading the charge to guarantee Democrats pass the President’s Build Back Better Act.
For far too long, conservatives have let corporate America write the laws that allow fossil fuel companies to destroy our environment, Big Pharma to profit while people ration insulin, and Wall Street to hit it big while hunger and homelessness increase in America.
That’s why progressives are flexing our muscle on Capitol Hill — the people demand it and deserve it. We are withholding our votes on a small bill until Democrats pass President Biden’s Build Back Better Act to expand Medicare, secure universal child care, pre-K, and community college, fight climate change, and invest in affordable housing.
I won’t give in to the demands of conservatives or corporate America, because I work for the people. The Build Back Better Act is not some fringe list of policy priorities. The conservative Democrats who oppose paid leave, child care, pre-K, climate action, lowering prescription drug prices, and Medicare expansion oppose what the people of this country want. It’s no coincidence that those few people who are opposing these policies take huge sums of campaign money from corporate PACs, Big Pharma, and fossil fuel companies.
Progressives are fighting to keep our promise to those who delivered us the House, the Senate, and the White House during the last election. That’s what they sent us here to do, and we won’t stop fighting for them.
