The party of Trump will try to halt Democrats from accomplishing an inch of progress by any means necessary

John,

Right now, the news coming out of Washington is confusing.

But let’s not overcomplicate this:

Republicans passed a $2.3 trillion tax cut for billionaires and corporations in 2017. And they racked up almost $7 trillion in other debt.

And now they’re refusing to pay for it.

Worse? They’re using that talk of debt to try to tank Democrats’ efforts to put forward programs on health care, child care, climate action, and much more.

It’s really that simple.

That’s Republican brinkmanship. Threatening a dangerous outcome if they don’t get what they want. And it could prove disastrous if they follow through with a government shutdown. They’re threatening to default on the United States’ federal debt right as we negotiate to pass a once-in-a-generation investment in American infrastructure and families.

That would mean millions of jobs lost. Families pushed into poverty. Not to mention setting off a global financial crisis.

For Americans working to make ends meet — it would be a catastrophe. But to Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, and House Republicans it would be a “win” — at least in their craven brand of politics.

The party of Trump will try to halt Democrats from accomplishing an inch of progress by any means necessary — even when the consequences fall on the shoulders of the American people.

So with the final deadline of the FEC quarter less than 12 hours away — can you pitch in right now to ensure I have the resources to fight back and protect our Democratic majorities? The Republican Party is too dangerous to come near holding the levers of power in Congress ever again.
